Acupuncture

Acupuncture consists of gently inserting extremely fine needles in specific points of the body (known as acupoints or meridians). The needles are so fine, often the patient cannot feel the needles being inserted.

By stimulating these acupoints, the clinician is able to stimulate the circulation of Qi (the body’s vital energy), to unblock the body’s energy channels to prevent or cure illness.

Acupuncture Moxa Treatment

Moxa

Moxibustion, or moxa, is a traditional way in which acupuncture treatment is augmented to include a warming and stimulating of the body area in question.

A dried mugwort herb (Artemisia vulgaris) is lit and slowly smoulders providing warmth. It is either used as a cone attached to the top of a needle, warming it and the treatment area, or it’s used as a stick that is held just above the treatment area.

Cupping

Cupping is an ancient technique used to stimulate the acupoints. It can be used without acupuncture and involves placing small specialist ‘cups’ on the body which creates a local vacuum on the skin, and is left in place for up to 20 minutes.

Cupping is a popular treatment for colds, pneumonia and bronchitis by moving any congestion. Also used for muscular/joint pain and some skin conditions.

Gua Sha treatment

Gua Sha

Gua Sha is a natural, alternative therapy that involves stimulation of the skin by applying pressure and movement with a Chinese massage tool. Used to improve circulation, release tension and assist in toxins removal.

Myofascial Taping

Myofascial Taping is a unique rehabilitative taping technique designed to facilitate the body’s natural healing process and provides support to muscles and joints, whilst alleviating acute pain.

Used to treat a variety of orthopedic, neuromuscular, neurological and other medical conditions, the technique improves blood flow, muscle function, motion and posture.
